Mackenzie Hunt signs new one-year deal at Everton despite transfer links
Mackenzie Hunt has penned a new one-year deal at Everton putting an end to speculation that he was set to leave the club.
According to the Liverpool Echo in June 2022, the versatile 20-year-old midfielder was among a group of players tipped to be shown the door before their contracts expire.
However, the club made an official announcement that he’s set to stay one for at least another year with Kevin Thelwell waxing lyrical over him.

He said, “We’re pleased for Mackenzie to continue his journey with Everton and look forward to supporting him for what we hope will be a successful season ahead.
“Mackenzie progressed under the guidance of Paul Tait during their time together with our Under-18s and we are confident he will benefit once again from the experience and knowledge of Paul and his Under-21s coaching staff.”
Good move?
Hunt has been at the club since he was a six-year-old so to represent the Toffees would mean everything to him.
He has been a consistent performer for the academy sides but there are doubts over whether or not he’s ready to step up and play in the first team.
This season will be a good chance to see whether or not he has a future beyond June 2023 at the club.
Frank Lampard must include Hunt in his pre-season squad and see why the hierarchy decided to hand him a new deal rather than letting him leave for free.
He suffered an ankle injury in the past which halted his development and we’re hoping that the same thing does not happen again as he needs a run of games together.
The 20-year-old has fought through these challenges in the past and we’re confident that he can do so once again.
