Everton and Tottenham make progress on Richarlison talks with more to come, Harry Winks involved

Talks between Everton and Tottenham over the proposed sale of Richarlison are “progressing” and set to continue, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs have been at the front of the queue for the Brazilian forward for some time, although the fee appears to be the sticking point, as well as the late attempt to include Anthony Gordon.

A number of players have been mooted as potential make-weights, including Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn, but Frank Lampard target Harry Winks is of most interest to the Toffees and has been a part of the discussions.

Caught Offside reported on Tuesday (28 June) that the London club had agreed personal terms with the star attacker, and while Romano doesn’t go that far he confirms they are “well advanced”, while a straight sale or swap is yet to be agreed.

The respected transfer journalist who also works for The Guardian wrote on Twitter on Wednesday morning: “Tottenham are progressing in talks with Everton for Richarlison.

“Negotiations are already well advanced on personal terms, while discussions between clubs will continue this week.

“Winks has also been part of the talks – structure of the deal not agreed yet.”

Inevitable?

The market looks like it might be dwindling for the 25-year-old with the news that Chelsea have surged ahead of Tottenham in the race for Leeds United winger Raphinha.

That Stamford Bridge side were expected to be the main competition for the Toffees man, raising hopes of a potential bidding war to overcome Daniel Levy’s unwillingness to meet the asking price.

He was spotted at dinner with Toffees chairman Bill Kenwright on Monday night (27 June), with former BBC North America correspondent Jon Sopel reporting any deal was likely to have agreed there.

Based on Romano’s latest update that talks are progressing it appears that meeting may well have got things moving.

Everton are in the unenviable position of having additional financial concerns, with a points deduction supposedly even on the cards on top of the simple fact that incoming business can’t be conducted without a cash boost.

The club may have been waiting on Lampard’s former club to join the chase in earnest but as it looks like they may not do so it could have forced Kenwright’s hand to make concessions to Levy.

There is interest on all sides to get Winks in so the likelihood of him being linked if not explicitly included in the Richarlison deal is high.
