Everton interested in AZ Alkmaar left-back Owen Wijndal
Everton have shown an interest in AZ Alkmaar left-back Owen Wijndal with West Ham also monitoring the Dutch defender, according to 90min.
The 22-year-old defender has managed ten assists and one goal in the Eredivisie for the Dutch side and has drawn attention from a number of clubs.
90min reported on Wednesday (29 June) that Everton along with Napoli, West Ham, Napoli and Sevilla have all shown interest.
The left-back looked set to join Ajax before talks stalled over the defender’s personal terms.
The Toffees’ interest in Wijndal is encouraging, albeit unlikely to happen.

The number of clubs chasing the defender means any deal will be tricky, however, it is good to see Everton showing interest in younger players, who could be developed and then sold on for more.
It does feel as if Frank Lampard’s transfer business hinges on some high-profile departures at Goodison Park.
Richarlison looks the prime suspect to generate some much-needed finances for the Everton boss.
Lampard must make sure he takes the Toffees away from their normal recruitment style of looking at older players who may well be on the decline.
Players like Wijndal may be viewed as a risk, however, they can usually be acquired for relatively cheap and then developed into an asset for the club.
Let’s hope the potential outgoings gather pace in the coming days and Everton can really begin to ramp up their summer business in the weeks to follow.
At present, Evertonians have the right to be concerned.
