Everton midfielder Anthony Gordon would be keen to join Tottenham Hotspur

Everton midfielder Anthony Gordon would be keen to join Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report from Football London.

Alasdair Gold wrote for the website on 29 June that Gordon would be keen to play Champions League football under Antonio Conte, but he won’t ask to leave his hometown club.

The report adds that Everton could face the wrath of the fans if such a move takes place, and so it would be difficult for the club to agree to any potential sale.

No way

Gordon emerged as a key player for the Toffees last season. Rafa Benitez deserves big credit for turning his career around, and he made the most out of it.

The 21-year-old managed 35 Premier League games last season, scoring four goals and providing two assists. He got better and better as the season progressed.

The youngster is the future of the club, and the board will face a huge backlash if they sell him to Spurs.

The north London club are interested in signing Richarlison, but they have glanced their eye on Gordon as well.

Sky Sports reported on 29 June (transfer live blog, 15:23 pm) that Spurs remain hopeful of striking a package deal for both players.

While the Toffees would be willing to let Richarlison go, they are reluctant to part with their academy graduate after the progress he made last season.

Gordon may harbour the desire to play in the Champions League, which shows how ambitious he is, but he is unlikely to request a move.
