Everton ace Anthony Gordon set to stay after Sky Sports update
As Tottenham Hotspur edge closer to signing Richarlison, it looks almost certain that they won’t be poaching another Everton ace this summer, according to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas.
Exciting winger Anthony Gordon was the Toffees’ breakthrough player last season and the 21-year-old had been touted to join Richarlison in the capital when Spurs attempted a double swoop of Goodison Park [Alan Myers]
But the chances of such a move happening is now looking highly unlikely as the North London club have “cooled their interest” in the Finch Farm graduate, as reported by Thomas via his personal Twitter account.
David Ornstein reported on 30 June that Richarlison, who was the top scorer for Everton last season, has undergone a medical in his native Brazil ahead of his proposed move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
Personal terms between the two parties have been agreed as has a £50million price tag with a further £10million in add-ons which will massively help Frank Lampard in the transfer market.
Relief
Of course, it isn’t what we wanted to see the Brazilian wonder heading for the exit door at Goodison Park but at least he’s going alone.
Had we accepted Spurs’ offer for the pair and Gordon left as well then we may have been favourites to get relegated in the 2022-23 season and we could still be in that debate unless we are able to reinvest.

With the 21-year-old local lad staying at the club, we can start to build our attack and entire team around getting the best out of him and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, should he stay too, and that might be our ticket out of the mess.
Our precarious financial situation means we might not have the clout to go out and make significant signings this summer so we may need to rely on extremely smart business and free transfer wherever possible.
The 2022-23 campaign is going to be a tough one with every other club having plenty of cash to burn but if we pull together as we did at the end of last season then anything could happen.
