Everton withdraw from Harry Winks pursuit after Frank Lampard verdict
Everton will no longer pursue the signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks after Frank Lampard did his due diligence, according to i news.
It had been reported merely days ago by ExWHUEmployee on The Transfer Podcast [28 June] that a deal between the Toffees and Spurs was all but done and that he would be signing in the near future.
Even the Liverpool Echo on 29 June suggested that the 26-year-old wanted to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and move to Merseyside despite interest from across the Pennines at Leeds United.

But all of that noise over the past couple of days has seemingly been washed away with the tide as i news report that Frank Lampard’s extensive scouting of the England international has led him to change his mind over a potential deal.
He is instead looking to persuade Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen to Everton with the 30-year-old a free agent come 1 July and still searching for his next club after his short-term deal at Brentford expired.
Smart move
Even though we look destined to lose Richarlison to Antonio Conte’s Spurs any day now, this is still a very good decision not to retaliate in any way.
Our frustration at having to sell our star player could have easily sparked the fuse within Finch Farm and some very rash decision on a proposed £20million transfer could have been made but we resisted.

The financial position we find ourselves in does not allow us to go out and spend that kind of money right now and even if it did, we should not be wasting it on a player no better than what we already have.
The fact that Winks has been unable to hold down a position with Tottenham should be enough of an indication that he is probably not going to be worth all that much and certainly not to us.
It’s great that we are making an effort to try and improve the midfield given how light we are in that area but this was not the move to make and it’s good riddance that it won’t be happening.
