Everton: Farhad Moshiri slammed by BBC sport writer Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty has slammed Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, suggesting the Toffees will be reduced to “Stand still” under his tenure.
Tottenham confirmed the signing of Everton striker Richarlison on Friday 1 July on a five-year deal in a deal worth £60million.
McNulty was less than impressed with the Toffees for selling their best player to a Premier League rival and ridiculed Moshiri for his part in the Toffees’ recent woes.
Writing on his personal Twitter account [1 July], he said: “Spurs, fuelled by the demands of a superb manager, are looking forward.
“Everton, placed in a ruinous position by owner Farhad Moshiri & their board, will be reduced to running to stand still unless/until a new hierarchy can try to unpick the self-inflicted damage of recent years.”
Concerned?
Whether Evertonians want to accept it or not, the Toffees are currently in a much worse position compared to when they finished the Premier League season in May.
Everton only just avoided relegation and a large part of that was down to Richarlison dragging the club from the brink of Championship football to safety.
Now Everton haven’t made a signing and have lost their talismanic Brazilian to a Premier League rival.
There is every right to be concerned right now.

There are obvious financial issues that are causing issues for the Toffees at present, but they could still have looked into the cheaper Championship market to try and unearth some rough diamonds until a big transfer fee came into the club.
Everton’s main relegation rivals Leeds have left the Toffees in the rearview mirror with their early transfer business.
There’s even an argument that relegated Burnley signing MK Dons attacker Scott Twine is better than what the Toffees have done so far.
This summer was meant to be one of transition for the Toffees, sadly we aren’t seeing anything close to what we should be from the Goodison Park hierarchy at present.
