Everton submit Richarlison paperwork to Premier League as last-gasp Tottenham move dubbed ‘life-saving’

Richarlison’s £50million move to Tottenham is a “life-saving” move for Everton due to the financial boost it’ll offer at Goodison Park, according to The Mirror.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on Friday (1 July, page 53) that Richarlison, 25, has agreed a five-year deal and already undergone a medical to join Spurs in a deal that could rise to £60million with add-ons.

It is understood that the Blues needed to find more than £50million before the end of Thursday (30 June) in order to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

The Mirror claims that the “last-gasp deal” that saw Brazil star Richarlison agree a move to Spurs means there’s a “clean bill of financial health” at Goodison as the agreement was submitted to the Premier League before lunchtime on Thursday.

Farewell, Richy

We would have liked to have seen Everton get more money for Richarlison because he’s obviously worth a lot more to the Blues than £50million.

However, there were good reasons to cash in on the former Watford attacker.

With Richarlison all but gone, the shackles are likely to have been taken off for Frank Lampard and Kevin Thelwell to go out and start signing new players.

Almost every area of the Everton squad needs to be added to but one area is already set to be bolstered with James Tarkowski expected to officially arrive at Goodison Park from Burnley on Friday (1 July).

The experienced centre-back should hopefully bring an improvement to Lampard’s back-line but we also need to see considerable additions made in the midfield and the attack.

Everton’s squad is looking rather thin right now but if the Richarlison money can be divided up and invested into adding to certain areas, there’s no reason why Lampard cannot oversee an improvement upon the results we had to ensure last season.

It won’t be easy but we can’t do anything but show faith in the manager and the board to bring in the right men for the job.
