Tottenham look to steal Everton rising talent Anthony Gordon for £10m

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to “steal” Anthony Gordon from Everton for just £10 million, according to a report from The Mirror.

The newspaper reported in their printed edition on 3 July (page 74) that Spurs are looking to make the benefit out of Dele Alli’s deal to sign Gordon at a bargain deal.

The north London club have already signed Richarlison from Everton, but Antonio Conte also wants to sign Gordon.

So, what’s all the fuss about the £10m deal?

A potential move for Gordon is actually linked with the situation of Alli.

Spurs are looking to land Gordon by offsetting the fee they are still owed for Dele Alli.

During the January transfer window, Frank Lampard signed Alli from Spurs in an unusual arrangement.

He was allowed to join on free, but with a fee that would be dependent on appearances. It would cost Everton £40m if Alli became a first team regular.

The 26-year-old has started only one game in the Premier League – Everton’s last game of the season, at Arsenal. Doubts remain whether Alli will at all be able to regain the form that he showed under Mauricio Pochettino, but nevertheless, Spurs are willing to trade off some of Everton’s accrued debt over Alli – around £20m.

The Toffees value Gordon at around £30m. So, basically, Spurs can sign Gordon by offering a £10m cash top-up, while the remaining amount can be adjusted with Alli’s deal.

Gordon was arguably one of the most consistent players for the club last season, and The Toffees are unlikely to entertain such offers.
