Everton and Spurs enter race to sign Clermont striker Mohamed Bayo

Everton and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined a host of European clubs in the race to sign Clermont striker Mohamed Bayo.

According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, West Ham, Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt are the other clubs keeping tabs on the 24-year-old.

The Ligue 1 side are asking for a fee in the region of £12million as they are willing to cash in on the Guinea international this summer.

Worth exploring

Bayo is hot property in the European transfer market and it makes a world of sense for the Toffees to explore his signature.

Richarlison left for Spurs in a big-money deal and Everton cannot afford to not sign a replacement or maybe even two to add to their depth.

Sure, the Guinean is not as good as the Brazilian, but he offers that direct goal-scoring threat and the ability to run beyond defences and he has been described as “powerful”.

For that money, it’s a gamble worth taking for Frank Lampard’s side despite the 24-year-old not having any Premier League experience.

Should other clubs not pursue their interest further, the Toffees may have a clear run at signing the Ligue 1 striker.

Last season, he had 19 goal involvements in the league and is only getting better with time so this could prove to be a great long-term investment by Everton and one they must pursue further.
