Celtic have already agreed to be the other competitor from the UK to take on Western Sydney Wanderers and Syndey FC in a homecoming for Hoops boss Ange Postecoglu.
Their Old Firm rivals Rangers were due to be the fourth team in the friendly tournament but they faced enormous backlash from their fanbase and subsequently backed out of making the pilgrimage down under.

Instead, Everton are now in talks to make the 17,000km journey to Australia to take the Bears’ place in the competition which would be the club’s first trip to the country since 2010.
The tournament is set to take place between 16-20 November as top-flight football takes a break during the World Cup and the Syndey Super Cup is planned to be a tournament where Frank Lampard can experiment with some lesser-used players.
Career-defining
