Everton signing Morgan Gibbs-White will be a masterstroke

Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is being watched closely by Everton this summer, according to talkSPORT.

The reports suggest that the Toffees are expected to face competition from Sheffield United and newly promoted Nottingham Forest for the signature of the 22-year-old this summer.

Everton manager Frank Lampard is keen on making fresh additions to his midfield this summer, after the departure the likes of Fabian Delph and Gylfi Sigurðsson.

The 22-year-old is an attacking midfielder as per his preference but can also play as a second-striker and a central midfielder.

His biggest strength is creativity as he can unlock any defence from any position. If he gets given time on the ball, he can be extremely effective in the final third.

In the 2021-22 season, the midfielder played 40 games across two different clubs Sheffield United and Wolves, scoring 13 goals, and providing 10 assists across all competitions. He also had two-goal contributions in the Championship play-offs for Sheffield [Transfermarkt].

Midfield is clearly one area where a major overhaul is needed as some of the veterans have left the club whereas a question mark remains on the others who are still there ahead of the next season.

Therefore, signing someone like Gibbs-White who is young, hungry and full of creativity, might well prove to be a masterstroke by Lampard and Everton going into the next season.
