Everton preparing bid for Emmanuel Dennis as Richarlison replacement

Everton are preparing a bid for Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis as they look to replace Richarlison, according to a report by The Mirror.

The Toffees sold Brazilian Richarlison to Tottenham earlier in the window in a £60m deal as they look to ease the financial burden on the club.

But now they are tasked with replacing him to ensure their squad is strong enough to compete in the Premier League, and Nigeria international Dennis has emerged as a target.

Dennis has been linked with several Premier League clubs after scoring ten goals and registering six assists last season for the Hornets, but he couldn’t stop them getting relegated to the Championship.

It’s believed that the 24-year-old could be available for around £20m and Frank Lampard’s side are now preparing a bid to try and bring him in to Goodison Park.

Act fast

The sale of Richarlison was quite dragged out, but the arrival of a replacement in the squad cannot drag on in a similar way if they want to avoid problems.

Frank Lampard struggled to implement his style after his initial arrival in January and was forced to go away from his preferred play to prioritise survival.

But with pre-season beginning, he has the chance to coach his methods and style in the hopes of a more successful season in 2022/23 and that means he needs any new arrivals as soon as possible to help their integration.

A deal for Dennis is clearly there to be done, and at a fair price too considering Watford were relegated and Dennis has four-years left on his contract. But with competition for his signature, Everton have to move fast.

It would be a positive sign for fans that the club are acting swiftly and can only benefit the team in the long run.
