Everton should back away from Kim Min-Jae pursuit after firm £15m stance

The £60million sale of Richarlison to Tottenham has freed up some money for Frank Lampard to go out and make improvements to his Everton squad.

The Toffees manager has already managed to bring in James Tarkowski on a free transfer from Burnley to add some much-needed strength to his defence but that alone won’t keep us up this season.

We need big changes across the pitch but with the England international now through the Finch Farm doors, centre-half is an area we don’t need to focus on.

Despite that, the Toffees tabled an offer to Fenerbahce for South Korean international Kim Min-Jae [Sabah] but it has not been accepted and the reason why has become known.

The Turkish club are also in talks with Stade Rennes over the defender but they are now adamant that his £15million release clause has to be paid upfront and all at once which is proving to be a problem for the French side, as reported by Foot Mercato.

That would be enough to make us question an approach at the best of times but when we have already got ourselves a new centre-half this summer, we should be staying far away from this move.

What we need now is some creativity to finally light the spark within this otherwise underwhelming Everton squad and that’s before we’ve replaced the goals and assists that Richarlison brought us.

There is a worrying possibility that Anthony Gordon may have to carry the brunt of our attacking pressure next season if Dominic Calvert-Lewin follows Richarlison out of Goodison Park so we simply must make moves in the transfer market.

But we won’t be able to make those signings if we splash all of this unnecessary cash on Kim Min-Jae when a better alternative has already been signed and sealed.
