Everton remain in contact to sign Jesse Lingard, according to a report from 90 Min.
ESPN reported (6 July) that the England international was linked with a “shock” move to the Major Soccer League. He was ready to listen to offers from the MLS, although he has got plenty of offers from the Premier League.
However, as per 90 Min (7 July), the wage demanded by Lingard would make it difficult for most MLS clubs to agree to a deal with him.

West Ham are “favourite” to win the race for his signature. The Toffees are in contact with the player’s representatives while he is just one of a number of targets under consideration at the moment.
Move on?
It was always going to be difficult for the Toffees to sign Lingard especially with so many other clubs are vying for his signature this summer.
After being released from Manchester United, this is probably his best chance to grab a hefty pay package contract, and hence he is waiting for the right offer.
At the same time, Lingard must understand that he should join a club that can offer him regular football. If he wants to be a part of the England national team again, this is the only route left for him.

The Toffees are in desperate need of reinforcement in their attacking midfield areas after Richarlison’s exit and Lingard would be a brilliant addition.
He has got a wealth of experience, and Frank Lampard would love to have him on the side. He scored nine goals and provided five assists in 16 appearances in the second half of the 2020-21 campaign, that shows given the right opportunity he can be a lethal weapon.
However, it remains to be seen whether the Toffees can lure him with the wage package he wants. They are still in the race, but fans must not get their hopes high up.
