Everton must secure transfer jackpot with Andre Gomes and Adrien Rabiot swap deal

Everton and Juventus could be involved again in a transfer deal this summer.

The Toffees striker Moise Kean is on loan to Juventus, but doubts remain whether the Old Lady will continue to keep him. In between, the two clubs could strike a deal that could turn out to be a masterstroke signing for the Merseyside club.

According to a report from JuveDipendenza (8 July), there could be a swap deal between the two clubs, involving Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot and Andre Gomes.

Put it simply, the deal would see Rabiot moving to Merseyside, while Gomes could be heading to Turin instead.

The 27-year-old France international has “officially requested” to leave the Serie A giants. He wants a move to the Premier League, and Everton will feel they have got a chance here.

More than anything else, the Toffees could get rid of Gomes who has cut a frustrating figure at the club.

The 28-year-old has turned out to be a shadow of the player he was at Valencia and featured only 14 times in the league last season.

He has been inconsistent and has struggled with injuries. There’s no guarantee that he will recover his old form, and the Toffees must get rid of him.

Rabiot has enjoyed a trophy-laden career. He won five league titles at Paris Saint-Germain and one Serie A title at Juventus.

The left-footed midfielder is a stylish player who oozes class in midfield. He is a solid defensive midfielder, who is good at tackling and interceptions and of course superb at picking right passes.

The Toffees need someone who can marshall the midfield, and Rabiot would be a huge upgrade over the existing lot. It would be a massive signing for the Toffees, and definitely the deal of the summer.
