Everton making move for Kyle Walker-Peters will be excellent business

Everton are interested in making a move for Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters, according to Daily Mail’s report on July 9.

The Toffees are in a transitional phase, coming off the back of a horrendous campaign where they narrowly managed to escape relegation.

One of the key areas Everton’s hierarchy is keen to strengthen is the backline and as per the latest report, they are interested in making a move for the former Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate.

The report further suggested that the 25-year-old England international is likely to be allowed to leave the club for a fee in the region of £10 – £15million.

Experienced

While there is a lot of focus on improving the attacking front, especially after the departure of Richarlison who joined Spurs, some forget about the fact that the Toffees’ biggest concern was their defence in the previous campaign where they narrowly managed to escape relegation.

The Toffees finished the Premier League season with the fifth-worst defensive record, conceding 66 goals and having a goal difference of -23 [Premier League].

Those numbers demanded immediate attention and Frank Lampard has tried to address the issue by signing veteran centre-back James Tarkowski on a free transfer.

Everton

Signing Walker-Peters will be a step in a similar direction as well as Everton have a major full-back problem with the ones available are either getting old or do not have the pace to be used as an important component on the attacking front.

But the 25-year-old can solve that crisis altogether and on top of that, his experience of playing in the Premier League makes him an ideal fit to improve Everton for the next season.
