Paul Brown reports update on Everton pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White

Everton may only make a move for Wolves star Morgan Gibbs-White if he is available at a bargain price, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Toffees are in the market to sign a player who can bolster their team’s attacking unit ahead of the next campaign.

For this purpose, Everton have been linked with a number of players including Wolves’ highly-rated attacking midfielder.

However, Brown, while talking to Give Me Sport suggested that the Merseyside club will only make a move for the player if he is available at a bargain price as they have a lot of areas to strengthen.

“I think if there was some way of doing that for a brilliant bargain price, it would be a no-brainer, because of his age,” he said.

“But if it’s to command a big fee, I don’t think Everton have the money for that when they need to strengthen in other areas more.”

During his loan move at Sheffield United, Gibbs-White scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists to help the club finish in the top six last season [Transfermarkt].

Everton manager Frank Lampard secured his first signing of the summer transfer window in James Tarkowski, who comes as a free agent from Burnley.

However, the transfer window doesn’t end here for the Toffees as they have to invest in key advanced areas, mainly in the attack.

After the selling of Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur, they cannot afford to put the entire attacking responsibility on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who had issues off-the-pitch last season as well.

Moreover, Anthony Gordon is still very young and inexperienced and cannot be relied on either for the entire season.

Therefore, it is important to sign Gibbs-White this summer who will not just relieve some of the goalscoring pressure but can also play in multiple attacking areas when required by the manager.
