Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite to leave on loan, left at home for USA tour

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is now set to leave Goodison Park on loan, according to Ryan Taylor.

The Express journalist has reported that the young enforcer has been left at home while the Toffees jet out for their pre-season tour in the United States of America.

PSV hold a strong interest, with Marcel Brands potentially coming into play as their Director of Football after leaving Merseyside himself many months ago.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Taylor shared the news with the defender set to move away from Goodison Park for the next season.

“Jarrad Branthwaite set to leave Everton on loan,” he wrote.

“Defender did not travel with rest of squad for pre-season tour of USA. Strong interest from various Championship clubs & PSV, where Marcel Brands is now operating as Director of Football.”

Right time.

With James Tarkowski being snapped up as a free agent, this is the right time for this loan exit.

The former Burnley man coming in means that Frank Lampard has essentially pushed Branthwaite one spot further away from the first-team starting XI each week.

That isn’t to say he will never get his chance, as he did regularly shine when given the chance in the Premier League last season, where more experienced players let the fans down at times.

Playing regular football every single week will do his confidence the world of good though, and that is something that will have been taken into account for a lot of these young players.

Branthwaite staying at home means this temporary move could be done very quickly, and that is best for all parties as we look to keep one eye on the future.

This has been coming for quite some time, and this latest step means Everton may not have to wait much longer.
