West Ham bid for Gianluca Scamacca opens door for Everton sign Armando Broja

West Ham United are in advanced negotiations with Sassuolo for Gianluca Scamacca and that could open the door for Everton to sign Armando Broja.

Sky Sports Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio revealed (via his personal website) on Tuesday 12 July, that the Hammers have tabled a £33.7million bid for Scamacca.

The Hammers’ interest in Scamacca could mean they cool their pursuit of Everton transfer target Broja.

Sky Sports reported on 4 July that Everton have approached Chelsea to sign the 20-year-old striker.

West Ham have been long-time admirers of Broja with The Evening Standard revealing on Monday 11 July that David Moyes’ side were set to intensify their pursuit in the Chelsea youngster.

It appears their attentions have turned elsewhere and Everton would be foolish not to capitalise.

Broja was keen to stay in London according to Claret and Hugh (5 July) with the Toffees looking very much second choice for the striker.

Frank Lampard must now act fast and secure a deal for the in-demand forward before any further interest emerges.

Broja is exactly the type of player the Toffees need to be targeting this summer with the Albanian still young and able to develop during his time at Goodison Park.

He would be an ideal replacement for Richarlison and would provide great competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front.

The Everton boss should use his contacts at Stamford Bridge to try and instigate a deal for the striker and convince Broja that the project at Goodison Park is one to be involved in.

The Toffees have also been interested in Morgan Gibbs-White [90min], with Everton clearly looking to recruit a younger mould of player this summer.
