Everton ace Jarrad Branthwaite closing in on PSV Eindhoven loan

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is closing in on a loan deal to join PSV Eindhoven, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

The Toffees are set to allow their academy graduate to leave the club temporarily to gain more regular first-team experience, with the Champions League outfit showing an interest in taking him.

Former director of football Marcel Brands is now at the Dutch club and could explain the reasons for interest, knowing the player well from his time at Goodison Park with a decision expected next week.

Branthwaite made six appearances for the first team in the 2021/22 campaign, scoring his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

He was sent off against Brentford when selected during an injury crisis, with Lampard preferring experience during the battle against relegation.

Experience

Lampard was right to go with experience at the back end of the season to avoid relegation, and he’s right to be prioritising it in his defence again next season.

Branthwaite has got great promise and at 20-years-old is at a period in his career where he needs more regular game time to develop and improve.

With the arrival of James Tarkowski on a free transfer, as well as Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate, Ben Godfrey and Michael Keane at the club his chances of getting that at Everton are slim.

A loan makes a lot of sense, and a loan to a club with the pedigree of PSV and the level that they play at can only be a benefit to everyone involved.

As a deal edges closer, fans can be happy to hear that the future of the club seems to be in good hands with a plan in place and being executed.
