Everton ‘in particular’ are keen on Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao

Everton are showing a “particular” interest in Udinese centre-back Rodrigo Becao according to Italian news outlet Tuttosport.

It had been reported by Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (via his personal website) that Everton had opened talks with the Serie A side for the 26-year-old but a deal was not close to being completed.

However, Tuttosport revealed on Wednesday, July 13, that Serie A clubs Napoli, Torino and Lazio are all interested but it is Everton who are “particularly” keen on the Brazilian centre-back.

Becao made 35 appearances for the Serie A club in the 2021/22 season and is contracted to Udinese until the summer of 2024.

Depends on the price

Another defender would not go a miss for Everton with Jarrad Branthwaite closing in on a loan move away from Goodison Park this summer.

If the Toffees don’t overspend on Becao then it could be a good move for Frank Lampard to make this summer.

The Brazilian is in the prime of his career and has enjoyed a productive season for Udinese.

A proven defender from one of Europe’s best leagues is certainly not a bad move for Lampard to consider this summer.

However, the Everton boss does need to focus on adding some much-needed attacking depth to his squad in the coming weeks.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is his only credible striker option at present and after the departure of Richarlison, the Everton boss desperately needs to add some competition up front.

A move for Becao wouldn’t be a bad decision for Lampard to pursue, but he surely has to prioritise other areas of his squad first.
