Everton make advances in race to sign Golden Boy nominee Aster Vranckx
Everton are making advances to try and sign Wolfsburg midfielder Aster Vranckx but they are not alone in the race, according to Loic Tanzi.
The Toffees were originally interested in signing the 19-year-old on 22 June as Calcio Mercato reported of the club’s interest with AC Milan previously keen on him too.
But it appears that Frank Lampard and Kevin Thelwell want to reignite their efforts and are now making moves to get a deal over the line for Vranckx.
Tanzi, a journalist for RMC Sport, reported on 14 July via his personal Twitter account that Nottingham Forest have also begun talks to sign the European Golden Boy nominee just one year after joining Wolfsburg from Mechelen in Belgium.
Vranckx made 24 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, missing just 10 games, and scored twice as well as playing in four Champions League group stage fixtures as the combative midfielder at the Volkswagen Arena.
Must-buy
Midfield is an area where Everton have got a lot of work to do in the transfer market having ended the 2021-22 campaign with Fabian Delph and Alex Iwobi in the side.
That partnership will never work long term and it was only their relentless energy coupled with a raucous Goodison Park crowd that kept us up over Burnley.

Abdoulaye Doucoure is a very good player to have alongside Vranckx if he joins us on Merseyside with his similarly combative nature and never-ending engine making him the perfect player for the Belgian Under-21 international to learn from.
Lampard then has to start looking at signing a more creative midfielder who can unlock a defence because there is no one at the club currently who could be considered to fit that mould.
Luckily, the £60million sale of Richarlison will have freed up some funds for the boss to spend but it has to go on the right areas if we are to avoid another stomach-turning season.
