Jarrad Branthwaite signs contract to leave Everton on loan and join PSV Eindhoven

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has signed his contract to join PSV Eindhoven on loan for next season, according to The Guardian.

The newspaper has reported on their website that the English enforcer has fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park despite numerous appearances last season.

Branthwaite is highly-rated by Marcel Brands, who also made the switch to the Eredivisie side after he moved on from Merseyside during the 2021-22 season.

The feeling at Everton is that they believe the young defender needs more first-team minutes to help his progression into the senior game moving forward.

When pairing that with the arrival of James Tarkowski, it makes complete sense.

PSV will be a really good option too, as there will be the possibility of European football too that he can add to his belt and use to become a much better player.

Perfect.

Branthwaite is on the perfect development plan here.

This was smart from Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard, with the young defender not going back for a pointless spell in the Championship, but instead getting that top-flight experience.

The former Carlisle starlet should come back full of new knowledge and hopefully ready to really push for his spot in the starting XI where he can make a real difference.

PSV have been chasing him for weeks it appears, and now they finally have their man.

Everton will be watching very closely, and there may be a recall clause included given how rotten our injury history has been with the likes of Yerry Mina in recent years.

There is no need for a young player with that much talent to be rotting away on the bench and getting the odds minutes here and there, and we hope that he gets the chance to play every week over in Holland.

Enjoy it.
