Everton want to sign Ajax full-back Anass Salah-Eddine this summer
Everton are interested in signing Ajax full-back Anass Salah-Eddine this summer, as talks over a new deal continue to stall according to Mike Verweij.
The Amsterdam giants are keen to tie the 20-year-old to a new deal, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season.
But with a big distance between the most recent offer and the player’s demands, clubs are ready to move and that includes Everton, Club Brugge, Feyenoord and FC Twente.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Telegraaf journalist Verweij said; “Patience: Anass Salah-Eddine (20) at Ajax put to the test. Left back in talks with club since April, but proposal and counter-proposal are far apart. Current contract expires in mid-2023. Club Brugge, Feyenoord, Everton and FC Twente interested in [the] Amsterdammer.”
Prospect
Everton lost the top drawer Lucas Digne in January after a dispute with then manager Rafa Benitez, but before the boss left he brought in Vitalii Mykolenko.
The young Ukrainian international has been excellent since joining, with great pace and energy up the flank as well as a great delivery to create goalscoring opportunities.

Coming from the Ajax school of football, Salah-Eddine will have similar traits to his bow and the Toffees would do well to snap up a fairly cheap deal to boost their options.
He is quick, strong, good in the air and obviously good on the ball while also being able to play at centre-back and in midfield too if necessary.
That provides Frank Lampard with plenty of options and versatility should he join, and he arguably gets to bring in a superior player to replace the outgoing Jonjoe Kenny who left on a free transfer earlier in the summer, while also providing cover for the exit-bound Jarrad Branthwaite.
