Simon Jordan: Everton season will not depend on who they will sign in this window
Simon Jordan believes that the fate of Everton will not depend on what they will do in the transfer window.
The Toffees are coming off the back of a difficult campaign where they narrowly managed to escape relegation.
Talking about how things look for the Merseyside club, Jordan was of the opinion that their fate will be decided by how they start the 2022-23 campaign.

“They [Everton] brought in the back-room staff with Paul Clement to give him [Frank Lampard] some proper headroom and support behind it,” he said on talkSPORT.
“Because my accusation about Lampard was, he didn’t have enough quality behind him. He now has decent assistance behind him.
“So, judge Everton by how they start their first five or 10 games, not by how many transfers they are able to bring in.”
Consistency is Key
Everton were top of the table after the first month of the 2020-21 season under the management of Carlo Ancelotti.
However, inconsistency followed by recurring injury put a halt to a promising season. Therefore, one can understand where Jordan is coming from.
Club owner Farhad Moshiri has spent a lot on players in the past few years. Many players who have been often termed as “world-class” like Andre Gomes, Yerry Mina and James Rodriguez have come to Goodison Park on the back of outstanding performances for club and country. However, they haven’t lived up to their potential and slowly diminished.

The only player that had a bit of consistency for the Toffees in the past few years was Richarlison. The Brazil International was key to their Premier League survival last season but has left for Tottenham Hotspur this summer on a £60 million move.
Therefore, we can safely say that spending on players does not necessarily guarantee success. Everton should go back to their reliance on academy talent for which they were famous for during the years of David Moyes.
