Everton must reward Abdoulaye Doucoure with new contract after consistent performances

Everton are going through a transitional phase as they come off the back of a horrendous campaign where they narrowly escaped relegation.

One of the areas manager Frank Lampard is eager to strengthen ahead of the next season is the midfield where there are many positions are up for grabs.

One player, however, who is almost a certainty in the starting XI at the Merseyside club is Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The Mali International has only one year left on his current deal at the club and keeping his importance in mind, they should give him a contract extension as soon as possible

Everton were sitting on top of the league after the first month of the 2020-21 season under Carlo Ancelotti.

At that time, many people thought that the midfield of Doucoure, James Rodriguez and Allan would prove to be a lethal one but that has certainly not been the case with the two out of those three failing to deliver consistent performances.

Out of those three, only Doucoure has somewhat lived up to the expectations and it is because of this reason, he has been a starter under Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez and Frank Lampard as well.

Therefore, it is important that the Toffees’ top-tier management rewards the Mali international with a contract extension which would help all the parties going into a new season.

The 29-year-old has played 68 matches for his current club across all competitions where he has managed to score 16 goals and provided 15 assists as well [Transfermarkt].
