Everton: Chelsea could let Levi Colwill exit as club step up pursuit of Jules Kounde

Chelsea could be willing to let Everton target Levi Colwill leave Stamford Bridge this summer after the London club finally agreed on a deal for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

The Guardian revealed on Tuesday 19 July that a deal for the 23-year-old France international is now close.

This could be a huge boost for Everton in their pursuit of 19-year-old Colwill with Thomas Tuchel potentially sanctioning his exit from Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano suggested (via his YouTube channel) on Monday night (18 July) that Everton, along with Southampton are “keen” on the defender.

News of Chelsea finally securing Kounde could see Tuchel loan the defender out and a move to Goodison Park would be an excellent piece of business by the Toffees if they can get a deal over the line.

The 19-year-old has plenty of experience for such a young age after a season in the Championship with Huddersfield in the 2021/22 campaign.

Everton should not hesitate to move for the defender with the Toffees needing defensive reinforcements after Jarrad Branthwaite’s move to PSV Eindhoven.

Colwill is exactly the type of player the Toffees should be targeting as Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard look to change the recruitment policy at Goodison Park.

If Everton managed to secure a permanent deal for the 19-year-old then he could go on to be a real asset going forward for the club.

Whether a permanent deal is attainable remains to be seen, however, the Toffees should certainly take encouragement from Chelsea’s recent business and the potential deal that could be attainable.
