Everton must act quickly as Napoli plan serious move for Kim Min-jae

Everton must act quickly if they are interested in signing Fenerbahce defender Kim Min-jae.

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport on 19 July, the Toffees are still in the hunt to sign the 25-year-old defender.

However, Serie A club Napoli are heavily interested in signing him. They are working seriously to get a deal done for the defender who could cost around £17 million.

Napoli are thought to be in constant contact with the player’s entourage, while French outfit Rennes are also interested in the defender.

The South Korean has been really impressive for the Turkish club where he made 40 appearances last season in all competitions.

He is a strong defender who is good in the air, and Everton have reportedly tabled a bid for him already.

The question is should the Toffees move for him this summer?

We all know that finance is a big issue for the Toffees, and they have to be very smart in that dealings.

The defence is one area that needed surgery after a disastrous 2021-22 campaign.

The Toffees have already signed James Tarkowski on a free transfer and Frank Lampard now has five defenders at his disposal.

In theory, it doesn’t make sense to spend £17m for another centre-back, but Lampard must make a bold decision whether it would be wise to invest now, and sell Yerry Mina.

There is no guarantee that Mina will be able to play 20-30 odd games next season, given his injury problems.

If they are serious about landing him, they must act now.
