Everton tactic switch up on cards if Levi Colwill signs on loan
Frank Lampard found great success at Everton at the end of last season by playing a very simple 4-4-2 system with aggressive pressure.
The manager will have been hoping that he could continue deploying the same formation only with an improved quality of player this time around but he may have to readjust if he makes one specific addition.
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is the man he wants at Goodison Park after the 19-year-old enjoyed a good season out on loan at Huddersfield Town where he nearly helped them to promotion after defeat in the Championship playoff final.

CBS journalist Ben Jacobs believes that a loan move is on the cards but it could be a saga that rumbles on for the duration of the window.
“Colwill to Everton is certainly possible before the window shuts, most likely on a loan, but Everton may have to be patient as Chelsea first assess Colwill’s role at the club,” he said to EFC Daily.
Under Carlos Corberan at the John Smith’s Stadium last season, Colwill was often deployed as the left-sided centre-half in a back three which is not a position available to play in a 4-4-2.

His ability to bring the ballot of defence is far more potent when he has the freedom to do so and with only two central defenders, the other likely to be James Tarkowski, he won’t be able to do that to the same extent.
Lampard has a choice to make between the formation that worked last season and a player who could be exceptional for him and time is running out for that decision to be made.
Colwill’s arrival would also raise a lot of questions marks over the futures of every other defender at Finch Farm who all could make a case to be the starting player alongside new signing Tarkowski and a back three may fit in another one of those under pressure.
