Newcastle United are set to remain patient in their pursuit of Everton attacker Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer, according to 90min.

The online source has reported that the England international is still the primary target at St James’ Park as Eddie Howe targets a new centre-forward.

It is even suggested that Everton still may need to cash in on another star despite Richarlison already moving on for £60million to join Spurs.

Newcastle are said to believe that the patient approach will be very much worth it.

Calvert-Lewin would suit their style it is said, and Howe is looking to put his mega war chest to use yet again from his filthy-rich owners this summer.

Frank Lampard is bringing his squad back to England on the back of two defeats in America with no goals scored against either Arsenal or Minnesota United.

This simply cannot happen.

Newcastle can be as patient as they like, but selling to another rival cannot happen again in this window.

This makes it sound as though a move is not imminent, and with the new Premier League season almost only two weeks away, it may not come until the business is underway on the pitch.

You spend all summer and pre-season looking to build your squad, so the last thing Lampard will want is to lose a key player only days into the new season.

With Richarlison having moved on, there is even more emphasis on the head of Calvert-Lewin now, and he needs to perform better than he did last season.

Selling him is simply not on the cards with another new attacker still not delivered despite it being a clear priority for the club in this current window.

There would be outrage if this happened, and rightly so.
