View: Everton target Adnan Januzaj a good fit at Goodison Park?
Everton have been linked with Real Sociedad winger Adnan Januzaj but would the Belgian playmaker be a good fit at Goodison Park?
The 27-year-old is now a free agent after leaving Los Txuri-Urdin at the expiry of his contract at the end of last season and the Toffees are one of the clubs interested in his services.
AS reported that Januzaj is interesting both Everton and West Ham, as well as clubs from Italy and Spain. [AS]
The report said: “His priority currently is to remain in Europe and play the Champions League next season.
“The player has had the interest of several teams from different leagues.
“West Ham and Everton in the Premier League, Napoli in Serie A or Sevilla from Spain.”
Januzaj a good fit?
After a blazing start at Old Trafford, Januzaj’s fire started to fizzle out and his hot start to his career endured some tough years including a difficult loan spell at Borussia Dortmund in 2015.
However, the Belgian winger found a home in Spain, and made 166 appearances for Real Sociedad becoming one of their most important players during his time there and surprising many when he decided to leave on a free transfer.
If Januzaj were to move to Merseyside, he could be seen as a Richarlison replacement and would need to replace the Brazilian’s energy and goal contributions.
The Belgium international is not as prolific of an attacker, scoring every 7.2 games for Sociedad, compared to Richarlison’s record of a goal every 2.8 games for Everton. [Transermarkt]
The former Manchester United winger recorded a goal contribution every 3.7 games during his four-year stay at the San Sebastian, whereas Richarlison bettered that tally, recording a goal contribution every 2.3 games during his time at Goodison Park. [Transfermarkt]
However, Januzaj is still a quality player, capable of producing magic, primarily from the right-wing, cutting inside onto his left foot in a Mahrez-esque manner.
At the age of 27, he is just entering his prime, and if Everton can get this deal over the line, they could do much worse than sign Januzaj this summer.
