Everton must react in race to sign Alassane Plea as Fenerbahce make him top priority

Everton have identified Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Alassane Plea as a summer target but they need to start making moves.

The 29-year-old is prepared to leave Borussia Park this summer to further his chances of getting into Didier Deschamps’ squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Toffees would be keen to sign the Frenchman, who has scored 97 goals throughout his professional career, and he could be available for just £6.8million, as reported by L’Equipe on 22 July.

But it isn’t just Everton who have realised this opportunity with OGC Nice and Marseille keen to keep him in France and other unnamed Premier League sides keeping a watchful eye on his situation.

Now, though, there is a new team in the race to sign Plea and they are taking things very seriously.

According to Foot Mercato, Turkish giants Fenerbahce have made themselves present in the race for his signature and they have now made him their top priority at this moment in time.

That is a worrying thing to hear for Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard who are in desperate need to find a replacement for Richarlison after he left the club for Tottenham Hotspur in a £60million move.

The Toffees manager will be desperate for Plea to replace the Brazilian with his vast experience in European competitions that he can pass on to the younger players in the squad.

That’s without factoring in the goals and assists he can bring to the side being a player equally comfortable on the left wing as well as through the middle.

He and Dominic Calvert-Lewin could even form a formidable partnership up front but only if Everton pull their fingers out and get ahead of the eight-ball to stop Fenerbahce, or anyone else for that matter, from stealing in and denying Plea a move to Goodison Park.
