Everton going all out for free agent Adnan Januzaj

Everton are going all out for former Manchester United wonderkid, Adnan Januzaj, according to Spanish publication Fichajes.

The Belgian winger is out of contract after failing to agree a new deal with former club Real Sociedad, and a return to the Premier League may be on the cards.

Everton are in the market for a wide forward to replace Richarlison, and the report from the Spanish publication has suggested that Frank Lampard has made a specific request for the move.

The report said: “The English team led by Frank Lampard would have already maintained the first contact.

“The environment of the Belgian footballer to know first-hand the intention of Januzaj to change the air next season and try his luck in the Premier League.

“This being a proposal that Adnan Januzaj himself since this would serve him to have a second chance in the Premier League after a first adventure that did not go as expected.”

Januzaj the man to replace Richarlison?

The Belgian winger may not be able to replace the Brazilian’s offensive output, however, he can provide a spark and add an abundance of creativity to the team.

Januzaj has not played in England since leaving Manchester United at the expiry of his contract in 2017, after two unsuccessful loans.

He however did get his career firmly back on track in Spain making 166 appearances for the club scoring 23 goals and providing 21 assists during his five-year stay at the club.

He likes to primarily operate on the right-wing and cut inside onto his left foot in a Mahrez-esque manner and could get the best out of players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anthony Gordon.

At the age of 27, he is just approaching his prime years, and would bring all his finesse, speed and experience to Merseyside.

If Everton are to get this free transfer over the line, it would be a major boost for the club and its survival hopes next season.

In other Everton news, the club have made a move to sign Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet.
