Sky Sports pundit prefers Everton chase for Levi Colwill than Jean-Clair Todibo

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell is less sure about Everton signing Jean-Clair Todibo than he is Levi Colwill with the Toffees deep in the race for both defenders.

The Chelsea teenager has less overall experience he excelled in the Championship with Huddersfield last season, while the 22-year-old Frenchman has a season and a half in Ligue 1 with Nice to go with a handful of games in Portugal, Germany and Spain.

GOAL in France put the Toffees at the front of the queue for the ex-Barcelona man, ahead of the likes of AC Milan and Manchester United, but Sky Sports pundit Campbell is more confident about the Stamford Bridge youngster because of his experience in the English second-tier.

Considering Todibo, he exclusively told Goodison News: “Is he more ready? I don’t know. I think Colwill playing a season in the Championship, that prepares you for anything, let me tell you, it does.

“Todibo maybe has a little bit more experience, of course he does, but obviously it’s that adjustment isn’t it?

“It’s the adjustment to the English game, sometimes it takes players seconds to adjust, sometimes it takes them a year, or months.

“So I think whichever way they choose, obviously they hope Todibo will hit the ground running if they go down that route.

“But I don’t think it’s necessarily a better move than Colwill.”

The Toffees are “really keen” on Colwill, who could be set to leave Chelsea if they continue their pursuit of defenders this summer, after already buying Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly [Fabrizio Romano].

The Stamford Bridge connection is obvious with Frank Lampard in charge at Goodison, but it has so far not yielded any results in the transfer market.

And with completed deals few and far between this summer fans would likely be happy if either of the two were to arrive, with the preseason results not inspiring much confidence currently.
