Stan Collymore makes bold prediction on Everton boss Frank Lampard

Stan Collymore has suggested that Frank Lampard could be sacked by Everton by November if the results do not improve this term.

While writing his column for The Sunday Mirror (24 July, page 62), the former Premier League striker suggested that the Toffees should get the best out of key players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Collymore basically suggests that Lampard should be pragmatic in his approach, and it may not be pleasing to the eyes. However, the scoreline matters in the end.

Collymore wrote for Sunday Mirror: “If he thinks an easy-on-the-eye progressive style is the way forward, he’s going to come a cropper.

“There is obvious potential for him to win the sack race. Mark my words, they’ll be reaching for the axe in November if it all heads south again.

“Then, he’ll be swapping the hot-seat at Goodison Park for a comfy settee in Qatar, working for the BBC. And Everton will be circling the plughole again – and this time they might not be so lucky.”

Summer window

Lampard wants to play an attractive brand of football, but does he have enough quality players to implement his plans? Probably not.

This has been an utterly frustrating summer transfer window for the Toffees. It seems Lampard is struggling to sign players, despite the fact there is money to spend, thanks to Richarlison’s departure.

Although there’s still a lot of time left in the window, failing to adequately bolster the squad could leave them in the same problem as last season.

Everton

In such a scenario, it’s not a bad approach to take a pragmatic approach (read as boring but effective) if it is required to win matches.

With more wins under the belt, there will be confidence in the team, and the club can carry forward the momentum.

Right now, without the manager bringing in his choice of players, it’s really difficult to impose a proper style of football. However, the Toffees board has full faith in Lampard, and he could be given more time to rebuild the squad.
