Everton must resurrect Matheus Nunes pursuit with Wolves move on rocks
Everton need to start making moves in the transfer window having only signed one player so far and the new season not far away.
In fact, the Toffees’ opening day fixture at home to Chelsea is less than two weeks away and the only business done by the club is to sell top-scorer Richarlison and sign defender James Tarkowski on a free transfer.
One area where signings are certainly needed is in central midfield and Everton could have received a much-needed boost that should see them return to the race for this Portuguese sensation.

Matheus Nunes of Sporting Club de Portugal was the subject of a £34million bid from the Blues on 25 June, as reported by O Jogo’s print edition, page seven, but very little news emerged after that.
With no progress seemingly made, Wolves have taken up the chase and have made slightly more progress but they have now stumbled upon a big hurdle that they may be unable to overcome.
According to Tutto Mercato, the 23-year-old is not convinced that Molineux is the place he wants to play his football right now as he wants a more ambitious challenge.

Goodison Park may not seem like a better place for Nunes given the performances of last season but if it is a challenge that entices him, then there is no bigger test than turning the ship around on Merseyside.
There would be no harm in reopening conversations with Sporting and Nunes’ representatives to see if the mood has changed a month on and whether a deal can finally be struck between all parties.
Farhad Moshiri and Kevin Thelwell are running out of time to bring in the reinforcements that Lampard requires to make s good fist of this new campaign and failure to bring in new faces could spell disaster for the Toffees.
