Everton in talks to sign PSG midfielder Idrissa Gueye

Everton are in talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye this summer, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The Guardian journalist wrote on Twitter on 28 July that he is one of the players Frank Lampard wants to bring to Goodison Park.

At the moment, talks have taken place at a preliminary stage, but more discussions are set to follow in the next few days. PSG are willing to sell the 32-year-old as soon as possible.

Good move?

Gana Gueye was a favourite among the Toffees fans. He made over 100 appearances for the club in three seasons, and always played with pride and passion.

The 94-times capped Senegal international has managed 111 appearances for PSG in three seasons, but it seems the French giants are looking to sell him.

At 32, Gueye is definitely not the same player that he was a few years back, but he could still do a decent job in the middle.

If Everton can get him on the cheap, it won’t be a bad signing at all. Bolstering the midfield is a priority for Frank Lampard, and Gueye can bring steel and class to the centre of the park that the Toffees badly lack at the moment.

On top of that, he brings loads of experience and the Toffees would benefit from his presence especially as Lampard look to rebuild the squad after a massively disappointing 2021-22 campaign.
