Everton effectively out of double Chelsea raid as club set to resist offers

Frank Lampard may now be forced to look away from his former employers Chelsea for his next batch of summer signings at Everton.

The Blues had been interested in a number of loan moves for players contracted to Stamford Bridge but two names, in particular, are now looking increasingly unlikely.

Albanian striker Armando Broja and defender Levi Colwill are the two players in question after the Toffees expressed a keen interest in both players earlier in the window [Chris Smith and Ben Jacobs respectively].

Now though, talkSPORT are reporting that Thomas Tuchel wants both players to remain at Stamford Bridge for the 2022-23 season with Chelsea not completing the transfers they were hoping to so far this summer.

In fact, the clubs that are chasing both players, including Everton, believe that they are going to remain in London as the Blues are ready to resist any approach for either individual.

That leaves Lampard in a tricky situation because he now has to find new targets in those positions but he doesn’t have a great deal of time to do so if he wants them in before Tuchel brings his side to Merseyside on 6 August.

The Toffees have been left in limbo by Chelsea and they would now require some severe sweet talking from the boss to try and twist their arms into making a deal happen but he is owed nothing from the former Premier League and European champions.

The Goodison Park scouts need to have been searching far and wide to come up with a new shortlist that Kevin Thelwell can act upon very quickly and give his manager a fighting chance of success after a turbulent 2021-22 campaign.

There is no secret however that this news will hurt Lampard and Everton’s hopes of a late summer spending spree at a critical time in the club’s existence.
