Everton target Ismaila Sarr could be the Richarlison replacement

Everton target Ismaila Sarr could be the Richarlison replacement the club has been looking for with the forward interesting several Premier League clubs.

The Senegalese forward is likely to leave Watford this summer after they suffered relegation last season and would add quality to the Toffees’ front line.

JeunesFooteux reported in May 2022 that the Hornets forward was being looked at by the Toffees and Newcastle has recently joined the race for the winger’s signature according to Chronicle Live.

The report from Chronicle Live said: “Watford duo Ismaila Sarr and Emmanuel Dennis are just two of the forwards Newcastle United are monitoring heading into the final month of the summer transfer window.

Richarlison v Sarr?

Both forwards were playing for teams near the bottom of the Premier League last season and despite the fact that Richarlison put up better numbers, there are some stylistic comparisons that can be made between the two.

Firstly, the two share similar physiques both being tall and strong forwards with good pace and acceleration and their heights are only separated by 0.1m.

Richarlison, who played 662 more minutes than Sarr last season, scored twice as many goals as the Senegalese forward, and also provided three more assists than the Watford man.

He also won 4.3 times as many headers as Sarr, was fouled 1.7 times more than Sarr, and made 198 more pressures than the Watford man.

However, Sarr had more successful dribbles, progressive carries, and nutmegs than the Brazilian as well as having a higher percentage of wins in aerial duels.

It is highly likely that if Sarr had played more minutes and played in a team that had more of the ball, his stats would have been better, but the similarities between the two are clear to see.

They are both powerful forwards, that are smart with their movement and take-ons, good in the air, and take their chance in front of goal and if Everton could secure this signing, it would be a smart acquisition for the club.

With Championship football ahead of Sarr yet again, he must be desperate for a move away.

In other Everton news, a move for Armando Broja could go down to the wire.
