Everton press ahead to re-sign PSG midfielder Idrissa Gueye

Everton are stepping up in the attempts to sign Idrissa Gueye from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, as per Paul Joyce.

The Times journalist wrote on Twitter on 30 July that “talks with PSG ongoing”, and the Toffees press hard to secure the signing of their former player.

Frank Lampard is keen to bolster his midfield this summer and has earmarked Gueye as an option. PSG are also willing to let him go.

Get it done

Bolstering the midfield is a priority this summer, and Gueye would be a brilliant addition.

The 32-year-old has made over 110 appearances for PSG in three seasons, and won silverware at the French club.

In this case, the Toffees will look to get him on the cheap, and there’s little financial risk attached to the move.

Allan has failed to provide security in defensive midfield areas, and the Toffees are crying out for a combative midfielder like Gueye.

Everton

The likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Tom Davies can flourish alongside Gueye in a three-man midfield set-up.

Last season, he made 33 appearances in all competitions, and there are concerns that he is not going to return with the same physical attributes that he showed during his previous spell at Goodison Park.

Nevertheless, he is a favourite among the Toffees fans, and could become an important part of the club, both on and off the pitch.
