PSG want almost full salary paid as Idrissa Gueye keen to join Everton

Everton are currently in talks to sign Idrissa Gueye from Paris Saint-Germain, and negotiation is underway, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The Guardian journalist wrote on Twitter on 30 July that PSG want almost full salary paid for Gueye to join the Toffees, and clubs are looking to find a way to reach an agreement.

PSG want to sell the player, while the midfield is keen to return to his former club as well.

There are both pros and cons to the deal, but overall it looks like it would be a brilliant signing for the club.

At 32, the Toffees can hardly expect to get the version of the player he once was when he graced the green blades at Goodison Park, but he can still be very effective.

Moreover, the Toffees need to consider the financial side of things. They cannot spend recklessly, rather they have a limited budget to work upon.

Bolstering the midfield is a priority for Frank Lampard. The club lacked a solid defensive midfielder, with Allan failing to make a big impact.

Tom Davies and Abdoulaye Doucoure will benefit in the presence of Gueye who is likely to sit deep and protect the back four.

He will bring grit and steel in the middle of the park, and his vast experience could come in handy, especially at a time when Frank Lampard is trying to rebuild his squad.
