Newcastle United shelve interest to sign Everton youngster Anthony Gordon
Newcastle United have shelved their interest to sign Everton forward Anthony Gordon, according to a report from The Northern Echo.
The newspaper reported on their online edition on 31 July that the Magpies are not interested anymore in either Gordon or Leeds United’s Jack Harrison, and as a result, they’ve turned their attention elsewhere.
The Magpies clearly think that Gordon is over-priced, and hence they have ditched their transfer plans.

Fantastic
The 21-year-old was one of the standout performers for the club last season for the Toffees.
Rafa Benitez gave him the opportunity to flourish, and he didn’t look back. He was equally good under Frank Lampard as the Toffees avoided relegation.
According to a report from Northern Echo [24 July], the Magpies had earmarked Gordon as one of their prime targets, and they valued him at around £25m.
The Toffees did the right thing by letting the Magpies know that the player is not for sale. In fact, the club is planning to tie him up on a new deal.

After offloading Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur, it would have come as a huge blow to Everton if they had to part ways with their promising young talent.
Gordon made 35 appearances in the Premier League last season, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
With better players around this time, Frank Lampard will be hoping that his stats will show even better readings.
