Everton likelier to sign Ross Barkley over Chelsea teammate Michy Batshuayi

Everton are reportedly likelier to sign Ross Barkley over his Chelsea teammate Michy Batshuayi this summer.

Speaking on the Football Terrace, former Eurosport journalist Dean Jones also joked that the Englishman could score the winning goal against the London side to make it the perfect reunion.

Barkley, who left the Toffees for Stamford Bridge may return to where it all began for him and work under the tutelage of Frank Lampard once again.

Jones said, “Two more players linked with an exit are Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi with Everton keen on them. Lampard is already turning to his former side to help them out in this window. I think the Barkley interest is more serious but they’re both likely to leave.”

He then joked with host Terry Flewers, saying, “He might score the winning goal against Chelsea.”

Hopefully not

While Barkley may be likelier than Batshuayi we do not think either of them will add value to this Everton side this summer.

Lampard may have the urge to go back to his former club as he’s worked with some of their players and the negotiations are expected to be easier.

However, neither of these two would be good signings for him and we would recommend he rather looks at players like Billy Gilmour if he is hell-bent on signing someone from Chelsea.

With less than a week to go before the new season begins, the Toffees still have plenty of work to do in the window and a new midfielder has to be on the priority list.

Money is the major concern around Goodison Park and Alan Myers has reported that they’ve put another first-team player for sale and are demanding up to £20million for his services.

We hope that they get close to that valuation and quickly reinvest that money to sign a quality central midfielder.
