Everton midfielder Andre Gomes reportedly is on his way out of Goodison Park this summer and is expected to join a Portuguese club.
According to Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers, the Toffees are looking for a fee in the region of £15million and £20million.
They’re looking for central midfielders and the money generated from his sale could be reinvested on other players this summer.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Myers said, “They badly need to strengthen in central midfield.
“The talk is that Andre Gomes is going to somewhere in Portugal.
“They want £15million to £20million for him and I doubt they’re going to get that.”
Forget about it
If Everton are quoting such outrageous fees for Gomes, clubs may think twice before even entering negotiations with them.
Gomes is clearly on the decline and at 29, chances of him having a resurgence are little to none so no club keen on him will be expecting that.
He’s also not featured regularly for the Toffees over the last few seasons so it’s clear that he’s not good enough and has not shown any real signs of improvement.
Midfield clearly is a department that needs to be strengthened and we believe that the Toffees will want at least two new first-team players.
One is expected to be an old friend in Idrissa Gueye as he’s done with his travails in France and has already turned down a club with a return to Goodison Park likely to be on his mind.
