Everton not actively pursuing move for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi
Everton are reportedly not actively pursuing a move for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi this summer.
According to Toffee TV presenter Barry Cass, who has good sources at Goodison Park claims that links to the Belgian are mere speculation.
It was recently reported that the club were in advanced talks with Chelsea to sign the 28-year-old, but that has now been rubbished by Cass.
Via Twitter, he said, “Told atm Batshuayi is just speculation, whether that changes may depend on other targets being unavailable. There are better options in terms of age etc but one thing for sure we need another forward ASAP.”
Everton risk going backwards if they actually make a move for the Belgian striker this summer.
They do need someone to replace Richarlison, but Batshuayi is not the Chelsea player that can do the job for them.
If they ramp up their interest in Armando Broja then that makes a lot of sense as he’s a young and hungry striker and would walk into the eleven.
With Batshuayi, he’s someone who’s struggled in the Premier League and having worked with him, Frank Lampard will know that he’s not the striker Chelsea thought that he was when they signed him.
Hopefully, they sign somebody sooner rather than later as they’re expected to go into the first game of the Premier League season without having replaced Richarlison.
Kevin Thelwell needs to go into overdrive in the coming weeks as he needs to rope in at least three more first-team signings.
