Frank Lampard now ready to beef up attacking options after Idrissa Gana Gueye

Frank Lampard is now ready to beef up his Everton attacking options with another move in the transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [01 August, pg. 48] that he is eyeing up Chelsea flop Michy Batshuayi weeks after the £60million sale of Richarlison.

Lampard is finally making his move for a brand new centre-forward with the Belgian international no longer in Thomas Tuchel’s plans at Stamford Bridge.

This has been a very long-time coming.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday morning [01 August] that a permanent deal for Idrissa Gana Gueye is now close with final talks set for this week.

That would suggest that Lampard is ready to go all out for Batshuayi once his midfield woes have been addressed from last season with the Paris Saint-Germain enforcer.

Everton

Four and Five.

So, it looks as though we could be going from one signing over the summer to five within the space of one or two weeks at Goodison Park.

Ruben Vinagre and Dwight McNeil have both arrived and shined against Dinamo Kyiv in our final pre-season friendly, with two more new faces on the way.

Gana Gueye and then Batshuayi would somewhat finalise the new-look squad for now, with glaring gaps in midfield and the final third in terms of quality and depth at this moment in time.

With the Premier League opener against Chelsea only days away now and not weeks, two brand-new additions would be the perfect build-up and should send confidence around the squad.

Lampard and Kevin Thelwell are targeting all the rights areas, and getting these two deals across the line quickly will leave them with more than three weeks to see if anything else pops up in the market for Everton.
