Big season ahead of Everton midfielder Tom Davies

Everton are set to begin their new campaign where they would hope to forget about how bad things were in the previous season.

The same will be the case for midfielder Tom Davies who will be eager to start fresh after having a horrendous campaign on a personal level.

The upcoming season will be even more important for the young midfielder as he is now in the final year of his contract at Goodison Park.

Important Season

Davies was one of the big absentees for Everton during the 2021-22 season. The midfielder was out of action due to the knee injury he sustained in November, which kept him out for nearly an entire season.

In the 2021-22 Premier League campaign, the 24-year-old only played six games, scoring one goal against Watford. Despite playing 233 minutes, Davies had a pass completion rate of 74.1% [Whoscored].

Those numbers do not look that bad but the reality is that in his entire senior-team career, the 24-year-old has never managed to cement his place in the starting XI.

It is because of this reason that no matter which manager came in, they always wanted to bring in more bodies instead of giving Davies a longer run.

For a player who was extremely highly rated in the footballing community before his promotion to the senior team, just 157 appearances in five full seasons do not make pretty reading and therefore, it is time the former England U21 international showcase his talent permanently or the Merseyside club will have to look for other options.
