Kaveh Solhekol names three potential striker signings as Everton dealt Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury blow

Kaveh Solhekol has named three strikers Everton are linked with signing now that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is injured and set to miss a month of action.

Everton confirmed on Wednesday (3 August) that Calvert-Lewin will at least miss their Premier League opener against Chelsea this weekend with a knee injury.

According to Sky Sports journalist Solhekol, the Blues could be lining up a new striker as a result of that injury.

Speaking on Sky Sports News’ Transfer Show on Wednesday (3 August, 05:22pm), Solhekol said: “Richarlison has gone and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is out for a month.

“Everton linked with replacement forwards including Armando Broja, Michy Batshuayi and Ludovic Ajorque.”

Broja, please

If we had to choose which of those strikers we’d like to see Everton sign, it would be Chelsea’s Broja.

The 20-year-old Albania international was in good form at Southampton last season and clearly has a big future ahead of him.

Signing him would future-proof Everton’s striker options and also give Frank Lampard a really good option straight off the bat.

Salomon Rondon, who’s also unavailable versus Chelsea due to suspension, has been woeful at Goodison Park so Broja would jump ahead of him in the pecking order and definitely challenge DCL for his starting spot.

Batshuayi, who is also on the books at Chelsea, has had plenty of chances in Europe’s top leagues but never really shone anywhere while Strasbourg’s Ajorque is an unknown entity.

Signing him would be a risk and Everton shouldn’t really be taking risks when their Premier League status could be at risk for next season.

Broja is the man.

Even if we get him on loan, Kevin Thelwell would do well to tie an option-to-buy clause into any agreement.
