Everton will complete a deal to sign Lille midfielder Amadou Onana within hours, according to Kaveh Solhekol.

The Sky Sports journalist reported late on Friday evening [05 August], that a deal should be announced within 24 hours, meaning it could be done before the Chelsea clash.

Fabrizio Romano has shared that a five-year deal is in place, with the medical set to be completed on Merseyside on Saturday morning [06 August].

Speaking live on Sky Sports’ Transfer Round Up late on Friday evening, Solhekol delivered the timescale on the move being announced.

“Lille midfielder Amadou Onana is having his Everton medical,” he said.

“The €40million deal [£33.7million] should be done within 24 hours.”

Brilliant News.

The atmosphere at Goodison Park and surrounding streets this evening is going to be something special, and we already can’t wait to make that walk.

Chelsea and their squad will not know what has hit them going into this cauldron of noise, the same place they failed to get anything from at the end of last season.

Now, imagine that with Onana being announced and unveiled on the pitch – that would be incredible.

With the medical this morning and everything else sorted, all that would be left to do is the media obligations, something that shouldn’t take until the late kick-off time.

We can’t wait for this one to be announced, and with Idrissa Gana Gueye following shortly after, Frank Lampard is delivering on his promise to strengthen that midfield that has needed it for years.

Onana has the potential to become a big name in Europe, and where better to do that than Goodison Park, get this one done and announced now.
